Last week H hit his eighth birthday and at around the same time he hit a few milestones. None of them seemed enough for a blogpost in their own right, but added all together, I can see that my boy is growing up and developing well.
This has been the first year where he hasn’t had a party as such. We are sharing a birthday treat with a classmate. However, we did do the birthday meal with the family with cake candle blowing out afterwards.
He did get yet another swimming badge – they have been thick and fast this term. He’s worked hard at his swimming and he’s been going up to 3 or 4 times a week for a bit, so that extra practice has paid off. I went to a school parents’ evening and heard that his reading and maths are really good for his age and that even the troublesome writing is coming along. We had another couple of milk teeth lost – I’m hoping for a break from wobbly teeth for a while as it does restrict some of his food choices.
We spent a lovely few days by the coast on a mother/son break meeting up with friends and spending time exploring together. H is good company and we enjoyed a couple of very civilised evenings in the pub together for our evening meals. He’s certainly growing up and growing up well.
