At Brit Mums Live I met up with some of the lovely ladies from me&i. They were there to tell people about me&i’s range of clothing and about the business opportunity that it represents for mums trying to make a little extra cash. Following that meeting, they got in touch with me to give us the chance to review some of me&i’s colourful clothing.
me&i was founded in Sweden in 2004 by two Swedish mums and they’ve been in the UK since February 2011. Their clothes are colourful with playful prints and patches, while the fit and fabrics are carefully chosen to be durable and long lasting.
We were sent their long sleeved turtle t shirt to test out. I was really pleased by the top when it arrived. It’s nice and colourful, which is great as often boys clothes are a bit dull in colour as they get older. The pattern is sweet too and there’s no reason why a girl couldn’t wear it too.
The only problem we encountered was a shortlived. In my haste to put it on H I didn’t wash it first and he did complain about it being itchy. After a wash (and he’s worn it quite a lot now) it was fine and there have been no complaints since. All me&i clothes are made in Europe and the dyeing and printing processes used don’t damage the environment. The clothes are also Oko-tex labelled, which guarantees that they’re free from harmful chemicals.
I like the fact that it washes well and it’s kept its bright colours. There’s no need to iron after a wash I found, unless you really want to. The other nice touch is that the bottom of the sleeve has a double layer of fabric which makes it easy to turn back the sleeve if it’s too long.
me&i sell their clothes through independent representatives. Mostly the representatives sell through home parties. It’s intended as a social way of shopping and it’s also about convenience. The shopping
comes to the customer and there is no need for busy mums to drag unwilling children round the shops. You get to see and feel the products in the same way as you can in a shop.
me&i’s method of selling also offers business opportunities for
mums who want to work flexibly alongside family commitments and who want to work with a product that they believe in. If you want out more, contact them through the me&i website .
