I can’t believe where the time has gone, but unbelievably somehow, 10 years have passed since I first met my son and he celebrates his tenth birthday today. H is a kind-hearted, loving, intelligent boy and I’m very proud of him. I wanted to find away to mark that coming of the double figures, which makes going from 9 to 10 a much bigger deal than from 8 to 9 somehow. As it happened Cheerz got in touch and I thought their Memory Box looked like just the thing I was looking for, so I jumped at the chance to try it out.
One of the things I liked about the Memory Box is that is the right size and shape to hold my photos. It’s much better than using an old shoe box or (in my parents’ case) old cat food pouch boxes to hold your memories. Then there are the dividers so you can organise your pictures, maybe by year or on a themed basis, or monthly as there are 12 dividers and you could have a box a year.
The way the Cheerz Memory Box works is that you buy it with a credit for either 100 or 300 photos. The box gets sent straight away and you can either choose the images to fill it for them, or they can use the credit to select their own. In our case I ordered the box and the photos on the same day and they arrived together, but in separate packages. You can either print all the pictures off in one go like I did as I was aiming to look back over the last 10 years, or you can do it as you go along, perhaps monthly.
Choosing pictures for someone else is quite tricky, so I’m glad that you have the option to allow the recipient the chance to pick your own. I didn’t think a 10-year-old would sit down for the time needed to go through the photos, so I picked H’s out for him. I have offered him the chance to add to them if there are pictures he’d particularly like to include. I think it’s nice that he has his own photos from his childhood and can take a look through whenever he wants. I think I’m going to write on them in pencil on the back so that he has a record of where some of them are taken too.
Giving him the box this morning was a big success and we spent a lot of time talking about the pictures and reliving the memories. I can see him appreciating this gift for years to come.
