Earlier this year I went to an event that Hillarys, the blinds specialist, organised to encourage bloggers to get crafting. We had a lot of fun and I think quite a few surprised ourselves with what we managed. If you want to see my previous efforts, you can read about them here.
This time we were sent a metre square of fabric from Hillarys’ latest range of fabrics and we were asked to make something. So I picked out this lovely Safi Turquoise fabric and got thinking about what to make.
Our cats love snuggling up together on their radiator bed and whilst it’s most popular in the winter months for obvious reasons, it’s still a favourite spot in warmer weather. The sheepskin removable cover is showing signs of wear – I’ve had it longer than I’ve had the cats and they are now 13 years old.
I am not very good at sewing, so I’ve decided to keep it simple and go for an envelope fastening, which is how the sheepskin cover works anyway. I used my grandmother’s old Singer sewing machine to join the seams and hem up the edges.
Then I put it to the ultimate test: the feline judge. I think it’s got the official seal of approval.
