For a long time we have been trying to get H to ride a bike. Intially he had a lot of enthusiasm: he’s always enjoyed watching the Tour de France with his dad and we have had lovely family cycling experiences like the Sky Ride and cycling at Hick’s Lodge. Many an afternoon has been spent in the local park trying to get him to master the skill. It was all in vain though. H was fed up with trying and failing. We had run out of ideas. So we decided to get in an expert.
H was apprehensive about trying again and a bit nervous. He did give it a good go and he quickly grew in confidence under the tuition of an expert instructor. Within a few short hours, he’d mastered it. It was amazing to watch. Now he can balance, pedal, turn and start off. All that remains is to continue working on his stamina and building his confidence so that it becomes second nature. I’m proud of the way he kept trying. He was really good for the instructor and never said he couldn’t do something. There were no tears and there was no anger or frustration. He got into it and was keen to get back on his bike again after a snack or drink break. I’m so glad we got someone else in to help and you can read more about our experience here.
Well done to my little cyclist! He can ride a bike. We are hoping to get new bikes for the whole family over the next few weeks as we are keen to get cycling as a family.
