Today we went on a bear hunt. Strictly speaking it was a bear trail with 30 bear sculptures to spot. For the last 2 weeks these bears have been adorning the streets and we braved the pouring rain to see them before they went. We printed off our map; put it in a plastic folder to keep the rain off; got all kitted out in the rain gear; popped on our wellies and got on with it.
H decided that he would direct us using the map and delivering the directions in the manner of a sat nav. Meanwhile his friend was chief bear spotter. The boys walked about 2 kilometres following the trail without any complaint about the walking involved.
Local schools and community organisations had each decorated one of the bears and they were placed around the route in front gardens and outside shops. Each bear had a little sign with it with a fact or picture of the history of the neighbourhood.
