H has been a dinosaur fan for quite a few years now. He’s very knowledgable about them and we have quite a collection of books and toys that he’s built up over time. When Parragon Books sent us Dino Supersaurus: Build and Play to try out, I knew he’d like it. What I wasn’t sure about was whether it added anything new to what we’d already got. Would it be a bit too similar?
As it turned out it did seem to be a little bit different to what he’d got and he certainly enjoyed playing with it. At 7 H was old enough and dextrous enough to be able to pop the shapes for the figures out of the strong cardboard and put the dinosaurs together himself. H liked that he got good dinosaurs and baddie dinosaurs to pitch into battle against each other. T-rex and the evil Sinistaurs are on a mission to destroy New Dino City. So H had to build his Supersaurs to help them save the day. You can also charge your dinos up with superpower add-ons. This is all right up H’s street.
As well as the figures, there’s a nice activity book that comes with the pack. This is full of drawing, colouring and puzzles. I’d say there was a bit too much colouring in it for H’s taste. Like many boys he’s just not that into colouring. However, there are plenty of other activities in the Dino Supersaurus book and you can just ignore the colouring bits, if your child isn’t keen or isn’t in the mood.
By the way, H is wearing a glove on one hand in these pictures, and no there is no particular reason for that, but he insisted upon it.
