walking in woods, especially if you can’t hear traffic, slows my brain down, calm down and remember that there is more to life than being busy, busy, busy. I’ve just been for a walk in woodland and snowdrops are coming out, which really lifted my mood.

When I was young my Mother showed me how to make a shelter using low, horizontal branches, twigs, leaves & mud.

I did the same with my daughter at Keilder Waters … Never people to be half hearted, we got completely immersed in the project & spent hours completing it.

It was a peaceful & therapeutic venture.

But, the best part was, when we returned in a couple of months, the camp was still standing .. And, people had actually added to it with their own branches & mud walls … And, there was a circle of stones with the remnants of a fire in it.

My daughter was proud as a peacock of her camp, & thrilled that others obviously enjoyed it, too!
