Last week I told you we’d been celebrating H’s birthday, but because he was at school on the day, those celebrations carried onto into the weekend. We’d saved up his Pokemon birthday cake for when his friend, and fellow fan, came round to play. I took H out for a Chinese (his choice). The only downside was the fact that we forgot his homework until Sunday evening and it proved a bit stressful fitting it in at the last minute.
Over the weekend we also staged an Easter Egg Hunt and we had a lot of fun creating an Easter egg trail and hiding eggs around the garden. Later in the week there were Easter bonnets to be made before school broke up on Friday.
There were toys to test out from the new Guardians of the Galaxy film.
One evening we had Western Power Distribution turn up and plonk some temporary traffic lights outside our house. They started digging up the pavement in front of our neighbour’s drive, but didn’t bother knocking on doors and telling people what was going on (although they might have told our neighbour as they were effectively trapping their cars in) . They were still working when I went to bed after 10, but as it was low-level background noise I fell asleep ok. What I didn’t find so easy to sleep through was the digger backfilling the trench at 3am. Couldn’t believe they thought it acceptable to do that on a residential road. I did complain and they said it was an emergency as some people were without power, but you know a bit of courtesy and consideration wouldn’t go amiss. I got the impression though that they wouldn’t change their behaviour for the future and would just deal with the complaints as they came in.

What a great week filled with Easter activities. Looks so much fun. And love H cake too x

Aaagh! Nobody wants to hear roadworks at 3am! We’ve been troubled by them this week too as a nearby road has been closed and the diversion has been right past our house. It’s been quite stressful.
Love the Pokemon cake 🙂

Ahh! You do right carrying on the birthday celebrations over the weekend. Weekday birthdays are rubbish. hehehe
It sounds like you have had a lot of Easter fun…
Oh no! The roadworks sounds like such a nightmare. How crazy to do it during the night x

There are roadworks everywhere at the moment, it’s so annoying! Sounds like the Easter egg hunt was loads of fun though. I hope he had a great birthday!

We had the same a number of years ago when our mains gas pipe was snapped, you would have thought they could just disconnect us and deal with it in the morning but no they dug the whole road up to replace us, and it was from about 2am to 8.
Glad he enjoyed the extension to his birthday.

Glad it all turned out okay

It must be the season for roadworks. 2 roads out from us were closed (one although there was nothing going on), plus other work on the 10 minute commute, all water. It’s meant to be for 3 months.
I wish N would eat chinese. Would be nice to have some on occasion

Oh dear rushed homework on a Sunday night doesn’t sound fun at all. I live the huge smile in the egg photo though! #365

Great birthday cake and Chinese is a delicious choice for tea. such a shame about the last minute homework though. I love the photo of H holding all of those eggs.
That is bad about the work being carried out so late into the night/early hours x

if the work is necessary then fair play in my book, but they could be courteous about it. That toy looks interesting, it’s been a long time since i bought toys so i have no idea what it is
